Meghalaya celebrated the 48th anniversary of statehood day on 21st January. 2.)  Wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav became the fastest Indian spinner to claim 100 wickets in One-day Internationals during the ongoing 2nd ODI against Australia in Rajkot. 3.) Captain Tania Shergill became the first woman parade adjutant in Army Day Parade this year to lead an all-men contingent. A parade adjutant is responsible for executing the parade. 4.)  India skipper Virat Kohli has been named captain of the International Cricket Council's ODI and Test teams of the year. 5.)   India bowler Jasprit Bumrah received the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award for the best international cricketer (2018-19) at the BCCI Annual Awards to be held in Mumbai. 6.)  The world Braille Day was celebrated on 4th January. The day is marked remembering the birth anniversary of Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille. 7.)  The birth anniversary of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji celebrated on 2nd Januar

1.)  Maharashtra finished top on the medal tally of 3rd Khelo India youth games in Guwahati. Last year champion state retained its position with 78 gold, 77 silver, and 100 bronze. 2.)  Eminent Sindhi writer Vasdev Mohi will be conferred with 29th Saraswati Samman. He has been selected for this prestigious literary award for his short stories collection- Chequebook. 3.)  Makar Sankranti was celebrated on 15th January with religious fervour and enthusiasm in many parts of the country. 4.)  The festival of harvest, Lohri is being celebrated on 13th January in North India especially in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu and Chandigarh. 5.)  The birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated on 12th January as National Youth Day. 6.) World Hindi Day is commemorated every year on 10th January with the objective to promote the use of the Hindi language.
